.50 cal question

i have a question that i know you guys will be able to awnser for me, currently i live in wisconsin but i want to immigrate to canada fairly soon, i was wondering if the .50 bmg was legal in ontario? or the rest of canada??
 
is it the same cost in canada as it is in the states? can i buy one here and bring it with me when i immigrate? can i bring the rest of my gun collection? my current guns are-
remington 700 .270 (deer rifle)
ruger 10/22

and i do want a 1911 and a beretta 9mm, can i transport these across the border if i am immigrating or should i just wait on them and buy them in canada?
 
A few types of 50BMG guns are prohibbited by name.
Many other types and brands are good to go.
The problem with your idea is that YOUR (US) government will not allow export of anything 50BMG related. That is why the cost is getting out of hand up here.
 
Exportation (from the U.S.)

"The GCA does not require export licenses. However, most firearms and ammunition must be exported in accordance with the provisions of the Arms Export Control Act of 1976. Regulations implementing this Act generally require a license to be obtained from the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, Department of State, PM/DDTC, SA-1, Room 1200, 2401 E St., N.W., Washington, DC 20037; (202) 663-1282.

The export of sporting shotguns and ammunition for sporting shotguns is regulated by the U.S. Department of Commerce rather than the State Department. An export license is generally needed to export these shotguns and ammunition. For further information, contact them at their nearest district office or the Bureau of Industry and Security, Outreach and Educational Services Division, U.S. Department of Commerce, 14th St. & Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington, DC 20230, (202) 482-4811.

When exporting NFA firearms, ATF Form 9 must be completed and approved by ATF prior to export.

wow thats a long list.....so it would be easier just to sell my guns to my dad and buy new when i get there wouldnt it??

i think that the .50 cal would be worth the trouble to import though....


now when you say that the U.S. gv't wont allow any .50 bmg exports does that include ammo, reloading dies or just brass?

I can't be totally certain, but I think the U.S. ban covers the actual firearm, and ammo and most components especially bullets.
Dies are a different story....bought mine direct from the manufacturer.
The components are easily found up here, a fellow in Alberta makes bullets and apparently they're pretty good.
I've got a cast bullet mould for mine, but haven't tried it yet.
 
we also have a dealer who sells bolt action ones from accuracy international as well as a few other factory names look up wolverine at the top of the page

If you go to the FAQ's page, you will see quite clearly:

"The following topics will not be tolerated.

Violation will result in immediate and permanent suspension. Some quasi legal/ grey/downright illegal examples that are specifically not tolerated are:
Shipping and driving items to Canada from the US that require US export permit. "
