Does anyone know if there are any ranges in B.C. that allow 50 BMG, and if so where located ?
Nothing in my area ( Abbotsford ), biggest caliber allowed being 338 Lapua.
Perhaps Heffley Creek by Kamloops, not sure on that either.

The range needs to have a suitable backstop and template around it in case anything should happen to leave the range. The CFC has very specific guidelines for range approval.

What's with .50 'approved' anyway? Is it just an insurance thing?
A requirement that your range template for 50 cal this doesn't mean the range the targets are on but how far behind the target area is closed to public access that in the event a rnd was fired it can land and poses no danger to the public .Many ranges from what I was told from the Range inspector are approved for 50 cal but it is up to that club if they want to allow it on there range

One thing I would say not to spoil the use of a .50BMG on a public range is be respectfull with the type of ammo you shoot at the range. Don't go blasting gongs with AP..Black tip ammo. Use something frangable that wont do any more damage than your average hunting/target round from a .30 cal. There are a wide variety of bullets available so show respect when shooting at ranges and save the surplus ammo for long range in the field if you must use it. Also think about your barrel when selecting your ammo...military ammo is hard on your large investment.

Just an opinion:beerchug:
