50 cal

I use my 50 cal muzzleloaders to great effect.
There are several 50 cal centerfires from old blackpowder brass cartridges up to modern nitros and bmg
All are capable if you put the bullet thru vitals.
Punch a half inch hole thru an animals lungs and they will die

There have been some Wildcats that have used the 50 bmg case as a base for hunting/markmanship rounds . Others have dabbled in projectiles . One in Particular comes to mind ,(50 man hunter ) a 7mm case filled with lead shot and then swagger down to a projectile profile. I guess you could allmost consider it a type of Hollow point even though it is very small hollow . I have seen lead bullets ( I imagine that they would have to be a harder alloy ) that were to be used for " hunting" . As with any caliber shot placement is important for a humane kill .

The pressure wave from a near miss SUCKED THE EYES OUT OF ITS HEAD AND KILLED IT INSTANTLY. If 50BMG rifles weren't 20 grand, I'd definitely have too much fun with one.

I remember a magazine story asking the same question about hunting whitetail with a BMG. The author opened with what else would I use it for...

I have no issues hunting with 50bmg.

The hot ticket is a TNW Ma deuce with a belt full of 750gr hollow points from HSM. That way if the deer charges with his friends you may make it out alive.
