50 caliber case with a 30 bullet

I had some one show me a live round they bought and the case is marked 50 Cal but the bullet is a 30 cal as far as I can tell. Dose any one know what this might be or what it is called

b) A gag or conversation piece (I've heard of .50 cases being necked down to
.17cal as a joke.)

Could it have been the SLAP round. There were experiments and some limited use of saboted rifle rounds.

whats exactly was amrked on the case? 50 BMG? .500 S&W? etc....????


could be some crazy wildcat or something else....
