500 gn. cast in 45-70 Guide Gun

I'm using a RCBS 45-500-FN at .459 that I really like. Loads out of Lyman Cast Handbook third edition. With my alloy, gas checked, and powder coated it comes out at 530 grains.

My really heavy Marlin length .45/70 load....

A Lyman 462560 weighing 540 grains powder coated, checked and sized at .460

I cut the brass back so it would crimp in the proper spot on the boolit as opposed to further up the nose but still maintaining the correct overall length. I use a .458SOCOM die to crimp it.

I pulled some old light load data from the 44th edition (1967) of the Lyman manual. They feed and shoot great through all my Marlins....even if they do look like giant lipstick tubes.
