Anybody here hunt with a rifle chambered for 500 s&w ?

Tried searching but keep getting database errors. I was thinking that the H&R Handi Rifle in 500S&W would make a good Bush gun. :)
 
.500 S&W ammo is horrendously expensive, if you can find any. LeBaron's lists it at $46.63 per 20. Not that they're likely to actually have any.
 
Oh, boohoo. Reload. It's no more expensive than most other rifle rounds to load.


Anyway, I tried several times for over a year to get a 500 handi imported. But, the friggin American export laws make that impossible as this is a baby-killing '50 cal' (never mind the fact that it's a: a pistol cal and b: is .500", not .510 like the big bad BMG
 
Why import one when you can just order it from Wholesale sports or whoever else ? Prosper, had sent you a pm before seing your post so this awnsers my question.

Its listed right now on their website for 289.95 plus tax and shipping. Cant go wrong for the money I think.

Even bulk brass for reloaders is expensive. WS sells it for about $50 for a 50 count bag while most other brass is half the price for a 100 count bag. Ouch!
 
I remember emailing H&R and they advised that they cannot ship it to Canada due to legal issues..
Have read that it kicks like a ##### from the Handi-rifle :)
 
From what I learned in my quest to obtain one, all the retailers around use the same group of distributors to import their stuff. Ellwood Epps was especially good to me, and tried several different avenues to get one imported to no avail.

WSS has lots on their website that has never seen the inside of their stores :p


But, if you DO find someone who is able to import one, let me know? Or better yet, have them import two while they're at it, I'll gladly put down a deposit or even the whole purchase price

WSS has lots' of stuff that never makes it to the catalogue, particularly high end stuff like Blaser rifles and Schmidt Bender optics. shrug/ If you are a guy on a budget, you may need certain posted assurances. Anyway, ...
