I saw on another site that the big 500 has an even bigger bullet now weighing 700 grains....... Holy crap....pretty soon ya won't be able to pick the sucker up.:D I would be first in line to try it of course.....:p

If you are casting bullets there are mould manufacturers that will make any weight and profile you want. I like Mountain Molds in Idaho, USA, they have a great interactive web site that allows you to design your own bullet and it displays the changes as you make them. I bought a 400 gr .500 mold from them.

I have three cast bullets I get from Doug
350gr BB
370gr PB
440gr GC
The 350 & 370 work well for the 'plinking' loads.
The 440gr with 14grs of Unique are really accurate & pleasant to shoot. Loaded with 37grs of H 110, the 'pleasant' aspect goes.:) :)

350gr Hornady XTP
350gr Sierra JHP
Both of these seem to be equal accuracy wise. I haven't tried the Sierra 400gr JFP, yet. I'll have to get some. When my daughter & son in law came to visit, they picked up some of the Hornady 500gr JFP at P&d in Edmonton for me. As the new Hornady two manual set didn't have any 500 S&W load data, I contacted Hornady & they sent me some. The top load listed for the 500gr is 1350 f/sec!! That's gotta' hurt, at both ends but they're next on my reload agenda. 303carbine, I'll give you a shout when I go to try them out.:)

Uncle Walther, P&d in Edmonton is where I've picked up most of the jacketed bullets I've tried. The 500gr Hornady's were $38.00 / box of 50. Not 'cheep but then the good things in life rarely are.;) The cast bullets I use I get from a friend in Duncan B.C.:)
