500 Shooters from around the World in Ottawa

Well, I went to Connaught for my first time this year, entered the Early Short Course Agg - F-F class, shot Th/Fr and Sat am - and I learned a lot - like shooting .223 at 900M is quite a challenge, especially when the wind is up to 30 MPH!

I had a great start in the 223 championship, shot first relay with Jim Thompson and settled into applying all the learning I've done with the ORA and the various people I've shot with over the last year - Terry Perkins, Ric Melling etc. I learned to reset my windage after a match, because moving from 900 M to 600 yards without changing it does not work - cost me 5 shots, 3 on score before I turned the dials 10 MOA and shot an Outer 2.

Weather and wind was great - rain, sun, no wind, swirling wind, constant wind....lightning on Thursday afternoon.

Some great shooters from around the world there, had a chance to chat with a couple or shoot with a couple.

Great experience, thanks to everyone I met, see you out at an ORA shoot, and for sure next year I'll be back for the whole event.

Highly recommended, don't just think about it, go and enter a match or two. You won't regret it.

Marius De Champlain is looking pretty strong... in f-class course that's mostly what I'm interested in...

They're getting every type of weather you can imagine thrown at them, high winds, light winds, switchers, rain, sunshine clouds... heat rising and falling... gotta be very interesting for all the shooters...

naturally I'm very hopefully for the cnd shooters.
 
The wind was wild on Friday !

Well shot for the first time at Connaught in the Seirra match at 300 meters with a .223 police Rem 60 shots did okay for first 40 only shot 7 nines but lots in last 20 rounds, but it was a experiance hope to shoot 15 at 600 later this week. Shot beside Marios he was tacking them in shot a perfect 600 out of 600 points.
take a look at some of photo's of wind on Friday afternoon fellow had a wind meter 70+km per hour, one fellow told me had put 18min on sights and still off paper at 900 meters.
I look through a Leica spotting scope some impressive but the on in photo that Aussie's where useing was just a monster of a spotting scope it made the Leica look like a toy.Take a look at flags

I can attest to the wind on Friday - I had to shoot the Army and Navy Veterans 900 in that wind, with my F-F .223 - just not possible for me with my experience level.....but a great experience none the less.

I was only there for one day and some of the scores these guys are racking up are just amazing. It really belies some of the conditions they are shooting in. They're making it look easy but it's not quite as easy... there's some pretty amazing wind readers there...
