I'm debating whether to get myself an mrad or ax338 but i can't seem to find any ranges where it would be useful to purchase such a long range rifle. Is it worth getting rifles like this if you don't hunt and live in the GTA with no ranges with more than 200yards?

Im in the same boat. Only place to really get out there is if you know a farmer.... and the second is when you get out to moose country, bring a canoe and set up plates across the lake

Long range shooting in southern ontario is definitely a chore. If you don't own land or know someone who does it can be particularly difficult. Thats not to say don't buy the rifle you want, my point is don't be discouraged by the extra leg work it takes to find a place to shoot it. The ORA is a goo option, there are shoots that go on at DND bases regularly and ontario is a big place with lots of land to shoot on. The problem with being in southern ontario is that if you want to shoot on crown land (like I do out to 1000yrds) you've got to commit to driving. Its a shame cause it certainly don't save on gas but this is the life we've chosen as LR shooters. As someone else had said, head into moose country and set up a gong across a swamp or lake, that'll get you your distance. As for whether or not to buy the gun, if you got the DISPOSABLE cash why not spend it? Its just money, it comes and it goes.
