I having doing some research for a scope to shoot out to 500 yards. After watching "sniper 101" series on youtube (which is great btw!) I have come to think the SWFA SS 6 or 10 power scope would be the best for a cheap $299.00.....but they dont ship to Canada.

Anyone know of another scope around that price range in Canada that would work for 100-500 yard shots?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what scope would fit your needs for around a $300 budget. There will be something, I'm just not sure what to suggest.
I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for, or buy once, cry once. Buy the best optics you can afford, you won't regret it. That being said, if $300 is what you can spend, then it is what it is. Personally I like a little higher magnification, variables up to 15x or so. My latest is a 6.5-20x
Keep you eyes on the EE, you may be able to pick up a $500 scope for your $300 budget.'

I totally agree with you on the Sniper 101 series on youtube. Great stuff, a little repetitive, but good info. That guy spent a ton of time putting those videos together.

It depends on what you want for shooting at 500 yards. I could train most of my troops to hit figure 12 targets (head and shoulders) pretty consistently at 500m with the SA80 (5.56mm NATO) and its SUSAT (fixed 4x optic.) Do you need hunting accuracy for humane kills? Just knocking down metal plates or ringing gongs? Do you need to see the holes with the rifle sight at that distance, or are you going to be on a range with a bench and a spotting scope?

Looking to do range shooting up to 500 yards but also take it out for bear and elk....trying to find something that will fit the best of both worlds...

Go with the M14 standard - Bushnell 3200 10x Mildot. Affordable, rugged and will satisfy your sniper dreams.

X2 field tested rugged and will out last your rifle ( kind of ) and can be had for less than $200 at EE.

Comes standard equipment on Barrett 50 BMG

I shot this group with Big Doug's Sig SHR970 300 Winchester at 880 yards using the 3200 10x scope. Sure, it's only a 3 shot group, but it's right around 7" (didn't measure it) and off the bipod I'm pretty happy with it. So much for having to spend as much on your scope as you do on your rifle!
