5000$ to spend on scope? Help

You honestly cannot go wrong with any of the upper-end recommendations that have been mentioned thus far. All you are going to get at this point are repeats of everyone's particular favorite, whatever that may be. The things that really differentiate the performance of the optic are (IMHO) the glass quality and the reticle. Decide on those, and you will have your answer. Your best bet, in lieu of being able to examine each of the optics on your short-list, is a phone consult with Omer at Precision Optics, Tom at Go Big Tactical, or Peter at Hirsch Precision. Any of those gentlemen ought to be able to provide you with a run-down of the scopes in question and should be able to answer any questions that you may have. You are paying for customer service, so you may as well get some up-front by picking the brains of your vendors.

I've had the Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 4.5-27x 56, the Leupold Mk 5 5-25x 50, and the Nightforce ATACR 7-35x 56. All are excellent in their own right, with each having specific design features that may appeal (or not). The Zero Compromise, Tangent Theta and Sxhmidt and Bender are a step up to the top-tier of rifle optics, which may be overkill for your purposes. Yes, it is always nice to have the "best" of anything, and additionial capacity (or magnification) is always welcome. But at the end of the day, you end up paying exorbiant cost for minimal gain when you are talking about the bleeding edge of optical performance. Sometimes the juice just isn't worth the squeeze, and "almost the best" is plenty good enough. I would stick with the flagship scopes from each of the "second-tier" manufacturers - Vortex, Leupold and Nightforce being the names that immediately spring to mind...

Very well said thank you 🙏

with a budget like that I would look at a Canadian made Tangent Theta. You will need to save a few more sheckles though.

I ended up going with the Razor that came to 5g’s on the nose with our taxes here in Ontario… I’m happy with the decision because I already own one and knowing the scope and reticle is key to me… thanks to everyone for giving your 2cents and I appreciate all of you!

I would be looking at the ZCO. I use a 4-20 at the moment and shoot out to 1200 m, and working upto 1500m this summer.

The tangent will be more than $6K.
The 525i is just in a lower class, I also have used one.

take note when you talk to Omer, he doesn't carry the ZCO line, so may not be inclined to mention it. He is trying to get that line on board, and hopefully will.

If you do decide to go with the ZCO, let me know. I know of a dealer that you will get the best pricing with. I have searched them all.

As you raise the budget above the $2200 scopes, I'd go to a Razor 6-36, then to a ZCO 5-27. Maybe throw a Leupold 5-25 with the PR2 reticle in that list as well.

Yea, new it will be hard to get in the $5K as the top performers are over that mark, but many come up used for a bit less than that.

I have been looking at the March line up, and some of the top end scopes in that line are now reaching $5K, but I think the optic clarity is just not up there to warrant that, yet. This is subjective as I have only been reading reviews, and some of those reviews were put up against the TT line up.
