50bmg Build

I remember having to de link 500 .50 cal rounds into sets of five, relink them again with one tracer every five rounds. I can tell you that the only thing that looked like a rainbow after that.... Was my hands lol. But that pic is neat. The armored piercing is impressive when used for its true purpose.

I would love to see that first hand! Just shooting a bolt action .50 reeeeally makes a guy want to one day feel the power of the big full auto baby! :50cal:

I get to do it all the time. I'm usually the Weapons Directing Officer ordering the fire but I get my turn shooting every now and again too :D

Simulated warning shots followed by an engage order on a disposable target

I don't have a video myself but here is one of an RNZN flare-ex. We do the exact same thing.. Somewhere in the ship we have a video shooting off a full box of all tracers. Those are 4:1 or 5:1 whatever the usual is.

Yeah there good fun. But a ##### to clean haha. Also make quite a lot of noise lol! 100% requirement for ear defense when putting a belt of a 50 down range.

Id put some of my .50 cal vids up but I don't think some of them are appropriate for a public forum.
For the record.... How has this .50 thread gone to ####??????

I finally have my HS-50 to a place that I am proud of.

The NEAR Alphamount is 40moa, it holds a NF 6-22x56 NXS NP-R2. ATRS brake and Palm shelf AR grip.

Gonna be a good shooting year. :D

Pics have a Sightron SIII for mock up purposes.

I like the looks of that alphamount.

One thing about the Palm shelf AR grip. I had one of those on a DPMS LR-308. Looked really cool. But it didn't work for me. I now use the Magpul MIAD with the large grip on it for my AR10 rifles. I found it makes a huge difference over the stock AR grip and I prefer it over the palm shelf. Maybe the palm shelf will work for you. I might revisit it since it's sitting around.

Yes I have a HS50 on the way ;). So will be trying both out.

Best place to buy the alphamount?

I hope you're also planning on modifying the stock so that you have a good cheek weld and adding something to ride the rear bag? I'd hate to see the accuracy potential of the action and barrel go to waste.
On a side note, have you decided on your reamer of choice?

You should get ahold of the guys at PTG. You can have a custom tight neck improved reamer built (which will also serve as a seater die reamer) along with a sizing die reamer. With a little Planning you can have the dimensions set so that fire-forming is simply shooting standard bmg loads. You'll have have a little extra oomph and once fire-formed your brass will last longer then your barrel.
