50BMG press

The press will not be the cost limiting factor when shooting 50 bmg anyway.... rifle, ammo, press, comps, all expensive. Too expensive for me.

Prices of a watched item rising sucks, but isn't surprising really. Knowing market value is important if buying anything with a budget in mind, but it's a test of patience vs need. Watch for a used one, sales, etc. You snooze, you lose though.

Not loading 50BMG here...what would the recovery be on a $60 difference? How many more rounds would have to be pressed to match equiv. factory ammo? Can't be that many.

50 BMG

Cases ..........$2.00 to $5.00 ea

Bullets..........$3.00 ea

Primers.........$0.60 ea

Powder..........$2.00 ea

TOTAL PER CARTRIDGE = $7.50 to $10.00 +/-

Real easy to go through 250-500 bucks worth in an afternoon of plinking..........and YES I do have and shoot a 50 BMG, these numbers are not theoretical they are actual and real.

To put this in perspective......an afternoon of plinking will buy you an entry level rifle......working up a good load can cost the same as a higher end off the rack rifle..........a little practice and shooting a few matches in a year will cost you the price of a really nice custom rifle. There is absolutely nothing inexpensive about shooting a 50 BMG.......Hell the primers are $60 a pack of 100..........20X the price of pistol primers !!!! Cost of shooting a 50 BMG is right up there with flying your own aircraft.........
