50BMG sizing die

morning, last night sized a few 50BMG brass I picked up a while ago, cleaned and deprime I set up a lee sizing die as directed and first 2 brass seemed to work well but the shoulder has a couple dimples, backed off the die a turn and the dimples went away.

as it was late I did not see if the brass would chamber but will take a look tonight, question the dimples are from dies trying to push shoulder back? is this typical of 50BMG brass of unknown origin

That is what my thought would be as well. Use decent lube, like Imperial sizing wax and just enough to do the job.
The dimples will not effect anything and the casing will not have them once fired.

I've never resized a 50MBG brass but for lubes I've been successfully using the Lyman case lube.

I've used this lube on .308/30-06/223.

Try a can of Imperial size wax, you will never use anything else.

Yep - likely hydraulic denting from lube on the shoulder. Some dies don't have a "vent hole" to allow excess lube to flow out, so you may need to clean your dies (and then use lube sparingly and not in the shoulder area) to see the problem go away.

One of the best investments I made to feed my 2 bolt-action .50s was a CH4D neck sizing die. So much less press effort and work on the brass, and accuracy is superb!

I always make sure no lube gets on the shoulder area of my brass when FL resizing.
I also use Imperial Sizing Wax....the greatest lube ever!! [Have used it for 25+ years.]
Shoulder dents are invariably due to excess lube in the shoulder area. D.
