50BMG with iron sites ...

Oh oh oh! Some sub sonic with special projectiles;) and suppressed oh that would be cool a nice small can designed to work efficiently with sub sonic loads.

:popCorn: . Ardent meet mildcustom2. We shoot 50BMG. In fact he owns a PGW 50. When not using his Unimog to access those hard to reach shooting spots, he's causing crap on the internet.

Mildcustom2 meet Ardent. Who I originally also met through arguing/insulting internet threads. The 7WSSM / 7AIM Wildcat rifle I own is one he had built on his wildcat idea. It's a pretty cool rifle.

Now what's the best rifle for spotted owl?

For "hunting" whales, may I suggest the Canadian Navy may have a few dry docked subs that would do the trick and they would probably be very happy to have them taken off their hands. Either that or pick something up from Russian surplus. Ask for the free T55 tank offer. Heck you could use that 50 with the iron sights as a deck gun!!

Yeah, this is pretty neat!

Myself I view this special use sporting rifle as nothing more then a modern variant of 577 Express or 600 Nitro. (and probably cheaper to feed it too!)
Very cool and very useful for the Otokiak's intended purpose.

I think they may have been getting worried about their civilian sales.

In the past they have built a bad reputation in my area.

Either way its good that they are doing work like this. Makes me want to save for a LRT-3.

I'm not an expert by any stretch, but a calibre that large should get some sort of optics shouldn't it? even something low powered. Bad ass rifle either way. But if shooting over a deck 20 yds away irons really are ideal.

Otokiak, you need a heavy duty pintle mount, spigot, and bomb lances for that rifle. And none of this handheld stuff either!

The sights you employ on any rifle are properly dictated by what the rifle is used for. Picture yourself in a pitching 25' open boat crashing through 4' swells, everything getting soaked by salt spray, as you attempt to make a shot on a porpoising whale in front of you. Just how useful do you see a scope under those circumstances? In other circumstances, irons don't preclude mounting optics.

Obviously point blank range with a 50bmg is much further than a derringer...
