50BMG with iron sites ...

Oh oh oh! Some sub sonic with special projectiles;) and suppressed oh that would be cool a nice small can designed to work efficiently with sub sonic loads.

So .50's and guns the media finds scary should be hidden away, never used for anything real like hunting, and maybe even lets restrict them only to approved ranges and require paperwork to transport them...? It would prevent the risk of offending the out of touch in this country. A couple political parties are looking for help like yours.

For the rest of us, seeing a Canadian made rifle out to actual work and not just coveted is a wonderful thing, and far more of a justification of ownership than "Because I like it." You ask me to consider my opinions... I ask you to consider yours. Cheers bud.

 . Ardent meet mildcustom2. We shoot 50BMG. In fact he owns a PGW 50. When not using his Unimog to access those hard to reach shooting spots, he's causing crap on the internet.

Mildcustom2 meet Ardent. Who I originally also met through arguing/insulting internet threads. The 7WSSM / 7AIM Wildcat rifle I own is one he had built on his wildcat idea. It's a pretty cool rifle.

Now what's the best rifle for spotted owl?

For "hunting" whales, may I suggest the Canadian Navy may have a few dry docked subs that would do the trick and they would probably be very happy to have them taken off their hands. Either that or pick something up from Russian surplus. Ask for the free T55 tank offer. Heck you could use that 50 with the iron sights as a deck gun!!

that is awesome.
best thing is pgwdti is willing to work with people even it's one off item.

Yeah, this is pretty neat!

Myself I view this special use sporting rifle as nothing more then a modern variant of 577 Express or 600 Nitro. (and probably cheaper to feed it too!)
Very cool and very useful for the Otokiak's intended purpose.

Cheers!

yup, still a custom shop at heart with the customer service to back it up.

I think they may have been getting worried about their civilian sales.

In the past they have built a bad reputation in my area.

Either way its good that they are doing work like this. Makes me want to save for a LRT-3.

;) Thanks for the bridge, I'm sure he's a nice guy, and so is Otokiak.

The guy from East Toronto is an expert on large rifles and whale and walrus hunting it seems, who'd have thought!

I'm not an expert by any stretch, but a calibre that large should get some sort of optics shouldn't it? even something low powered. Bad ass rifle either way. But if shooting over a deck 20 yds away irons really are ideal.

Otokiak, you need a heavy duty pintle mount, spigot, and bomb lances for that rifle. And none of this handheld stuff either!

The sights you employ on any rifle are properly dictated by what the rifle is used for. Picture yourself in a pitching 25' open boat crashing through 4' swells, everything getting soaked by salt spray, as you attempt to make a shot on a porpoising whale in front of you. Just how useful do you see a scope under those circumstances? In other circumstances, irons don't preclude mounting optics.

She finally arrived and I got her at 4:30pm today ... cargo lads had a ton of stuff to pile thru to get her as we haven't had any flights for almost a week and things were backed up. I gotta say WOW & huge thanks to Ross & crew over at PGW as this thing is beautiful and rock solid. I will post pics once I've had a chance to shoot her & go hunt with her ... funny I got the rifle today only to leave tomorrow for a week and no chance to shoot her. HAHAHA dang!

Very nice! Maybe in another week the wind will drop enough that you can shoot it.

Well a broadside elephant has a vital zone about 4' in diameter, so the point blank range with a .50 is about about 600 yards. It might be an interesting stunt, but I doubt that's what you had in mind.

Obviously point blank range with a 50bmg is much further than a derringer...
