50BMG with iron sites ...

She finally arrived and I got her at 4:30pm today ... cargo lads had a ton of stuff to pile thru to get her as we haven't had any flights for almost a week and things were backed up. I gotta say WOW & huge thanks to Ross & crew over at PGW as this thing is beautiful and rock solid. I will post pics once I've had a chance to shoot her & go hunt with her ... funny I got the rifle today only to leave tomorrow for a week and no chance to shoot her. HAHAHA dang!

That is one hell of a sweet build!

Please post up some info of how it performs at longer distance with the iron-sights as I'm very curious. And scoped.

I just came from visiting the PGW shop and staff with Ross and they are top notch people. Friendly, informative and were just great to meet. Thanks for the tour and thanks for the rifle & thank you for the ammo!

Did Ross chrony any ammo through it? I'm curious to know the velocities. I'm betting it won't lose as much as some might think.....

These are awesome rifles and I think your set up is great for it's intended purpose and a ton of fun for plinking waaay out there!
Please post some pics of your hunts....very interested!

Of course I get home from Wpg and there is my rifle and it's dark after work and also -50 below ... I guess we'll see what the upcoming weekend brings me as for weather so I can get out and shoot this thing of beauty. Unreal how fast it got cold and dark now. I will post pics or vids of any target shooting and hunting with this beast.

Other than your gun icing up in cold temperatures, does the cold play any havoc with your arms in the Arctic?

In addition, what optics / rings / bases do you depend on to work in arctic temperatures?

What metallic sights do you prefer for hunting?

What make and model of commercial centrefire rifle do you find most reliable in the cold?

One more thing: do you find the electronic dot sights work very well in the cold?

Thanks for your answers to my off topic questions.

Tony  :)

Shot 11 rounds this morning at a couple softballs and a garbage pail with the irons ... I couldn't hit shizznat! HAHAHA. My buddy Chadd Burrill grazed the top of one of the softballs. Go back tomorrow with a scope on and more ammo & warmer clothing.
