I am trying to identify this strap. It is 64 inches long and one inch wide by slightly less than 1/8 inch thick and has a kind of double buckle on the one end.

It may me 51, but likely 64 web pattern and may have only be used by the British, but I could be wrong. If anyone has any for sale, or can identify it for me I would be grateful. Let me know your price and quantity.

Thanks for looking.

I don't know myself, but if you don't get an answer here, you might want to ask John Thorne, Karkee Web Site owner, in the VIP Interviews (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/vbinterviews.php area of the Milsurp Knowledge Library.

He's one of our Advisory Panel members and an expert collector of web gear who is handling questions about British and Empire equipment and accouterments.

Regards,
Doug

Just took a close look at this packboard which I have had since "liberating" it from winter stores in 1PPCLI 40 yrs ago. We were using the Vietnam style rucksack by then so these packboards were just stacked up gathering dust.

It does have a jumble of various straps, some dated 1945, with Brit property marks on them. Some of the straps and buckles are identical to what you are showing. The packboard itself is made of aluminum. I once used it to haul out a moose in pieces which I had shot far from the road in a moment of youthful exuberance. I always swore I wouldn't do an encore on that.

Regarding the straps, I have sent off a message to the Karkee web site owner. If he can't identify it guess no one can? Thanks for the response to this question guys!

Canadian Tire , these were on a cargo frame that they sold back in the day. it was a copie of a military type frame. will try and find you a picture.

web strap

British aluminum pack frame pattern 44. pictures on google

Thanks for that, I have fired off an email to this website to see if he has any for sale. I agree the web strap looks similar on the website showing the British 44 pack but can't tell if the 64 inch length is there. The buckles are exact but the strap goes in behind the frame so it's hard to see if my strap is the same.
