54 cal load priblems

Hi, I have a rem 700 inline ML gun shoots 400 grain lead core bullets perfectly(Little Hard in Shoulder) but got 250 grain with green sabots same powder perrodex and they just keyhole n target at 50 yards? Anybody have these problems or sugestions 54 cal compontnets getting hard to find aswell.Mike

I think the green sabots are for .50 cal

Yup. That bullet and Sabot combo would tumble something fierce. That .50 projectile is just rattling down that .54 bore.

What's the twist? 1:28 is for sabots like you mentioned. 1:48 is more suited for lead conicals. Harvester makes a .54/.45 sabot (pink in color)as well.
