Hey guys,

I have a line on a clean looking Izzy SKS, and while either way I want to add an Izzy to the safe, I'm being told it is a non refurb. It is really clean sharp looking gun, but theres a couple marks it has and a couple marks its missing that make me unsure. If it was a Tula it would be a bit more straight forward as most of the stickies refer to Tula builds and I have seen my fair share of Tula examples everywhere, but the Izveshk ones I have only ever seen 3 maybe. I only have a couple quick pics but any input is appreciated

The only spot I see a stamp that really concerns me is the last one. The receiver cover is great, blueing is consistent. But it lacks the arsenal stamp on the stock.

On your last pic, there's a stamp on receiver, a box with a X or hash mark in it, look like a refurb mark. I should add somes IZZY in my collection as well. Most refurb look awesome, very clean so nothing wrong having a refurb, particulary if you want to shoot the rifle.

yeah thats what I figured i was hoping i was wrong though haha. If it was non refurb I would have had the excuse not to shoot it and buy another, but I dont get many opportunities at Izzys so either way I was into it.

Won't find many non-refurb izzys. Just because it has a refurb stamp doesn't mean they actually replaced anything. It could have past inspection, got the stamp and been put in cosmo with anything being changed.

Just checked my 54 Izzy which appears to be a non-refurb and it has no X like in your last pic. My 53 Izzy is a refurb and is doesn't have the X either.

The X on yours doesn't look stamped, rather engraved. Most refurb marks are stamps, live the "diver down" square and hash marks. Not sure what that X means.

No external frankenpin, so thats good. Just look to see if all the serial numbers match. I have an Izzy refurb, and its great. Mine fyi, has no refurb stamp on it, but is in fact refurb'd, so even if it doesn't have one, there are some signs you can look for to take an educated guess if its refurb or not. Chances are, it is, tho.
