541s

When I first saw the 1977 541S with the 20" barrel for sale late last November, the ad said "20" barrel (not the standard 24")". It doesn't say the barrel was shortened, but a 24" barrel was on the 540S when it left the factory.

Good day: i just went through john and roys book"remington 22 rimfire rifles" and nowhere in the info does it state that the 541s came with a 20" barrel.
All came with a 24" barrel. Total production was 31,0041 "s" models from 1972-1983.

Hope this helps

I asked around on Rimfire central, and was led to believe they did not come with a 20” barrel. That one has likely been shortened at some time in its life.

I inquired. It was shortened for competition. The ad comes and goes but the price never reflects the horror committed.

Does anyone know that they never came with sites from the factory? Even tho they were D&T'd for same.

I have a 541-S that was bought new, it is D&T`d for front sights, rear sights & scope bases. It came with no sights installed.

I added 700 sites to mine. Makes it look compete. Years back, I found one of the higher quality Remington scopes, the ones that had green reflective coating on the lenses, in the 2-7x32 configuration. Mounted that with Redfield bases and the matching engraved rings that almost match the receiver. It is an awesome looking rig. I just looked. It's so far deep in the safe, tough to pull out to take a good pic. Gun room under construction so room too cluttered to pull everything out.

Yes the down side is the plastic mags there is steel available just tracking them down found a supplier in the states..of coarse!
If I have any luck I’ll spin the info your way Dave.

So if you don`t mind me asking, what is a 541s in very good to excellent condition worth roughly, just curious?

Do to the rarity 7-1500 they don’t come up often and everyone I’ve seen or shot shoots well these are off the Remington custom line
