Hey folks.

I had a request from a fellow CGN to post some pics of the PU scope and the markings that are on it - so request fulfilled.

I also did a minor adjustment of the PU scope and adjusted for a slight windage issue (I was shooting about one inch to the right).

The picture of the target is only 50 yards. I will be doing a 100 yard targeting this Sunday and see what I can come up with.

That being said, I am happy with the 50 yard result. It is also 5 shot group. I only count 4 holes. I can only assume that (a) I got two shots in one hole - or (b) I missed the ENTIRE target completely. I doubt this happened - because this rifle shoots very consistently. I won't rule it out - but I shot 40 rounds that day, on top of the other 40 rounds from my original shoot - and the groups were similar to this one. The flyers, which happen, were only 2 inches out at max, and I attribute that to my own mistakes.
The grouping in the very first picture underneath the rifle was an experiment adjusting elevation. Not an actual target group.

I used prvi commercial ammo. I am very happy with it - so happy, I bought 500 rounds from SFRC! (going to reload the brass to boot!).


I ALSO INCLUDED PICS OF MY BROKEN STOCK piece. I am filing down some wood as it was touching the scope mount. Should have been spotted during install of the scope, but it wasn't - that being said, I wouldn't trade this rifle due to the accuracy potential.

The stock broke because it was touching the scope base and the recoil cripped it off :(

But I still cant get past that group "I want to see it at 100m"
 
Might want to bed or shim your receiver - it looks like it's moving a bit since it broke that piece off from the recoil. Mine was doing the same and causing a lengthwise vertical split in the stock so completely shimmed and refitted the stock, and it's shot really well since.
 
I will see what it does at 100yards. The stock broke on the very first shot I took with the rifle. I have put around 80 rounds down the pipe with that piece broken. As for the stock - where would u suggest shimming it? I did the dollar bill under the barrel and it moves freely (I know some people shim in that location). I'm just not sure where I'd shim the receiver if I determine it is a problem.

Shim around the recoil lug or bedded it
 
Yeah, it's good for a 70 year old rifle :) but like I said, I still think I can tighten that up :)

I will also be doing some reloading, perhaps in time for next year. That should help too!
 
Here is a small 3 round, 100 yard group..

the Mosin was shooting great today. I know it's three rounds and not 5 - but it was so tight, I took it for what it was ;)


I also fixed the stock. Held up great. I took off about 1/4cm of wood and it's not touching the scope mount anymore.







 
Good on ya buddy! I was at work today so I couldnt make it out, couldnt have had a nicer day for it. Glad to hear the wood held up!
 
I took your advice and let her cool down between shots. Really brought it in tighter.

We'll see if I can duplicate it. If I can, I might do some blue locktite on the bottom elevation screw.
