I bought one of these years ago, thought I would use it but I dont. Its from the 70's if I remember right and was thinking of getting rid of it. Whats it worth roughly? it has one small scratch on receiver, thats it.
New they go for just under $700 now ($650-$690 range).
Given the reputation Remington has acquired in the Cerberus/Freedom Group years (specifically, a really bad reputation), if yours is in good condition, it should be worth almost as much as new price, even with a small scratch on the receiver.
When I went searching for a 572…the QC on the new ones turned me off. Found a '70's in VG condition and it came with a set of upgraded irons. It's action is smooth and very accurate. I paid $450 for mine. I really need to take some better pics….
I have one that my grandfather gave me when I turned 12 (1987, but I don't believe it was new, I think he had it for some time).
It is very accurate, has nice irons on it and nice wood. Its not blue (barrel is, but receiver is black), but finished nicely all the same. Exactly the same as the one posed above from what I can see.
It holds 12 rounds in the tube for some reason. Has a nice trigger.
I wouldn't trade it for anything. it is a good rifle.

I believe those sights where either standard or came on the delux model....they where the same sights Remington used on their Model 700's and 760 pumps back then. I bought a 572 new, with the same sights, back in about 1973 and used it for nearly 20 years before in a DOH moment I sold it...I have been kicking my ass ever since for doing so, it was one of the most accurate 22's I have ever seen. They slimmed them down some in the late 80ies I believe and change the stock dimensions slightly....the newer ones just never did feel right again...Good find JohNTO.
Halfton…you're probably correct about the sights being standard on my 572 Fieldmaster Deluxe. The other "vintage" 572 I was interested in had a simple front post and rear ladder type.
I'm really starting to appreciate the craftsmanship and feel of the older rifles…..
Still a good thread.
Out of all the .22 pumps out there, the 572 Fieldmaster is the only one that feels like you're shooting a real rifle—rather than a gallery gun.
