577-450 inserts

Here are some pics of the 577-450 insert to convert to 45ACP or 45LC.The target was shot using 45ACP 180grn factory bullets at 100 yrds using a stock 577-450 rifle with stock sights .Al Flipo(Alex) Made them up and they work excellent.You fire the shot remove the insert and the 45ACP brass tip it up and the brass just falls out insert another cartridge and go again .It was felt that the 180grn bullet was too light and the group would improve by working up a load using a heavier slug.This is a very cost effective way to have good accuracy without the fuss with the 577-450 cartridge .

What is the longer cartridge in the pictures?

The tall straight walled cartridge is a 45-70 .Inserts are also being made to shoot 45-70 in the 577-450 but they are more complicated to produce

The straight-walled brass cartridge looks to be a .45-70.
