Looking for someone to load or help load some 577/450 shells. Have some 24ga brass and have the dies but no loader to load with. Is there anyone in Saskatchewan or Saskatoon that can help out. Don't really want to blow myself up. Hope to shoot a bear this spring with it.
 
Flat lander, i am in P/A and would help if you want, i have the presses, bullets,powder etc., I have helped others in your predicament, even have an 800 yd. range in my back yard.
 
Boy....there's an offer you should take. Ben, "Flatlander" doesn't say whether or not his 24 guage brass has been formed to 577-450 yet. I have never done that, preferring to by brass already formed. I understand that it's a real job to get it right and not spoil a bunch of cases. I believe that the guys who do it anneal the brass prior to forming and use Imperial Sizing Die Wax to lube before the resizing process. Wish I was closer so I could help. Good luck, Dave
 
Ben Hunchak. I will tell you that my brass is not sized yet, and eventhough I have reloaded before I am unfamiliar with reloading black powder. I would like to take you up on your offer if possible on some saturday or sunday.
 
No problem, good to hear from Dave as well, I am glad he alerted me to problems sizing that brass, we can try it and anneal if necessary. We can reload with black and smokeless but I am more concerned that Flatlander has the proper shellholder or the whole thing is a non-starter....Ben
 
I will check to see what I have if it came with the shell holder and get back to you. With my luck it doesn't have it and I really wanted to take it bear hunting this year.
 
If you fins your short of a shell holder I have a spare for 450/577 that I got with my Dies.

I'm also interested in your smokeless loads, so far I've worked on some load development with IMR4772 (I think) and some slower powders that just did not work very well at all.
 
I would like to change from help with reloading to maybe buying some 577/450 loads. Have run out of time to get help reloading. If there is anyone in the Saskatoon surrounding area that has some relads for sale please let me know.
 
Basic reloads are NOT either occult science or all that hard.


ffg poured to just beyond the throats size reduction, thumb seat the proper sized bullet, load and fire.

mind you I would like a proper crimping device to keep it all together more stoutly.

I have been shooting my long lever martini this way, and in all honesty have no complaints.

The price of pre prepared rounds are absurdly high.
