Hello all I recently acquired a cogswell and harrison fields patent chambered in no 2 500 express which i believe is also called 577-500. The action and bore are in excellent condition and i mean excellent. Shiny lands and grooves and i was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction to find dies (or something that might work) and brass (or how to make it) any info would be greatly appreciated!

That gun looks familiar. I think it's from stavely sale? Beautiful gun. I love the action.
I looked at so many guns that day in such small amount of time.
I kind of remember that action because I never handled one before and I really liked it.
Before that auction I spent quite a bit of time researching #1,#2 musket, 500,450s,etc.
The high cost of trying to import brass, dies and molds was ridiculous. Thank these elbow up idiots. I think we are in for some serious hard times unless we ditch these Ottawa (Moscow) sons of ....
Anyway I'm not sure about your particular gun. I hope you can get it identified and smoking again.
There are British gun forums that if you search or better yet join they could help you out if you can understand the way they talk. They have funny foreign way of saying things.
