As the title indicates I"m interested in the old british big bores. I like them so much that I rebarrelled my Thompson Encore into a modified 577 nitroexpress ( shortened brass to 2 inches ) At 1250 fps. the 750 gr. semi wadcutter hollow point is a handfull , at 1400 fps. it breaks bone splinters off in your hand.
 
577 snider uses 493 gr. bullet, can't get a fast enough burning powder to get complete conbustion in the 15" barrel. Had to go to the 750 gr. bullet from the nitro express. To keep the cost down I made my own bullet mold to get a heavy enough bullet.
