I came across a youtube video of a guy loading .600 balls into cut-down 24 gauge plastic hulls. Sounds like it works very well, and easily reloadable.

Is there any source in Canada for these hulls? I assume getting 0.600" lead balls isn't too difficult. I can even cast my own if needed.

I last played with a Snider almost 20 years ago (all with smokeless) and posted quite a bit here on CGN, and while most of what I posted elsewhere is now gone, some is archived:

The Fiocchi plastic 24ga shotshells provide a lot of fun if you keep the pressure to about 12K (450gr bullet at about 1000 fps). I came up with the idea of using a 54 cal bullet inside a 24 ga shotcup in the 24 ga Fiocchi which acts as a sabot and brings the overall diameter to about 0.590", and tried paper-patching. I also used the Magtech brass 24 ga cartridges and a 0.600" Round Ball would fit nicely in the mouth and allow chambering if sized down to 0.590" and can take a bit more pressure and offer many more reloads than plastic. As suggested if using the plastic hulls, I'd be suprised to see it chamber unless it was cut back a fair bit and/or the chamber was generous.
