The vast majority of use use mega-tech 24ga brass shotgun shells - cut them down and use forever.

Thread here is a couple of years old but if you're still active, what's the filler? Did you need a card to keep it separated from the black powder or does that matter?
 
Hoping to revive this thread! My hunting buddy was gifted a nice Enfield in .577 Snider. Has anyone loaded this cartridge with IMR 4198? The old rule of thumb was 40% of the BP charge, so, 30 grs of IMR 4198. I'm in the process of making cases from 24 ga Magtech brass. I have access to dies and molds. I also have 1Fg, 2Fg, 3Fg and Pyrodex on hand.

The snider and smokeless are a no go these are generally converted p1853 enfield rifles muskets. Black powder and subs are good to go.

The dominion smokeless loads used a powder that is basically a bulk semi smokeless black powder replacement and is no longer available to the reloader. Stuff like pyrodex and 777 are good substitutes for this semi smokeless as that’s essentially what they are.
