So I just purchased my first .577 snider enfield. I of course want to shoot this thing. Where on Gods green earth will I find some cartridge casings, 24gauge shotshell hulls, brass whatever?
Any info for me would be much appreciated. Thanks
Some use 4198 smokeless and cast.
Frank Barnes Cartridges of the World book seems to think otherwise.Lots of data for cast and IMR 4198 ?

thanks, I’ll checkout rusty woodsome wil chamber 24ga plastic without any work some will need brass formed and then fire formed. you will need proper sized bullets most of the sniders like .590 or .595 bullets cast soft. of course snider is a black powder only action they tend to turn into auto ejectors if any gases get under the breech block. rusty wood has 24ga brass you will most likely need lee dies for forming these are 1 1/4 dies and need a big press but once cases are fire formed they shouldn't need to be resized.
Hey thanks guys. Once I “find” some cases to load, I will then re-read the above posts. I don’t have a recipe yet, because I don’t have anything to load a recipe into. Thus the reason for the OP.
But rest assured if you good people have the patience to help out when the time comes I’ll probably ask.
But for now still looking for components.
Good to know. I guess the original .577 had a hollow cone in the base to expand into the grooves, so that is why a.600 is usable?the recipe is pretty easy since its black powder you should be using but around 75gr of fg or ffg should get you started and work up or down till accuracy improves a .600 round ball can be used if its cast in pure lead track of the wolf also has custom lee molds for a .595 round ball. I think jethunter also cast snider bullets
