I have acquired a Kodiak double rifle (muzzleloader) in .58 calibre. .58 bullets seem hard to come by, all I seem to find are balls (but can't find patches), and sabots for .45 calibre bullets. I would like to find modern projectiles for my gun but it seems 58 calibre doesnt get much love from the ammo companies. Hornady used to make conicals in 58 but they no longer list them, although I'm looking for modern copper jacketed, polymer tip, one piece bullets ideally.

I don't think I've ever seen a modern copper clad slug for the .58 caliber. Or for .54s either. The traditional stuff is more my wheelhouse though so I expect to be educated here too.
People use the sabots because 45 pistol bullets are so common.
Not sure how a jacketed bullet could improve on the performance of a lead one at those velocities either.

There are no manufactured, modern projectiles that can be fired in the Kodiak. Dependant on the size of balls you have, you can source material and make your own patches. I can send you a sample of patches of different thicknesses, if making them is too daunting a task for you. I also cast 58 Minie balls which I can send a few of. If you are expecting minute of angle at 150 yards, prepare to be disappointed. Also if your wife doesn't like the smell of Hoppes, she is going to hate the smell of your Kodiak when you clean it with hot water, hah hah.

I had a safari arms 58 double rifle and it loved the rcbs mini , track of the wolf sells bullet moulds. amazon .com , buffalo arms it is just another part of the hobby of black powder shooting.
