That's an unusual powder choice there. I usually associate IMR-4227 with rifle cases such as 45-70 myself. Some unburned powder migrating around?

Actually 4227 was a pretty common choice for magnum pistol cases, 22 Hornet and 410 shots helps back in the day. - dan

Ive been using it in my 357 and 44 mags for quite a while. It was all I could get when I started loading so ive stuck with it.

Resurrection of an old thread here but I finally got out to do some pistol shooting. Got tight again, unburned powder under the ejector star. 10 points to the winning guess.

ive had some grit or lead get under the star and bind up the cylinder on a 586 competition gun i got from a friend. a quick clean and it was back to normal. there was a lot of lead passed down that barrel before the problem arose, and with no real cleaning evident!

I had the same issue with HS6. I switched to 4.0 Grains of Tite Group under a 158 Grain Berrys bullet, no problems after 8000+ rounds.
