590 add-ons and accessories

the only down side to the Knoxx Spec ops stock is that the length of pull is longer then the standard stock, which feels a bit to long ,to me, to start with.

Huh? You can kind of like adjust them so they run shorter you know! :p

One thing I forgot to mention about the Speedfeed stock is how it seems to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise. When holding it firmly like you would a shotgun, the recoil gets soaked up by your hand as well as your shoulder. Now the human palm is quite strong and the way the grip is, you don't feel it kicking your hand all that much, even when using hard hitting ammo, your hand only soaks up so much and your shoulder gets the rest. Shooting 3", 2oz turkey loads feels like a strong 2 3/4 buckshot/slug loads and the 2 3/4 buckshot/slugs, even full power, kick so mildly I can't even explain it. I like it more than folding, collapsing or recoil reducing stocks, as the Speedfeed stock is rigid and will NEVER have any play, wobble or any kind of movement in any direction. It'll never have anything to break or wear down, and nothing to adjust and fumble with. The standard dimensions fit me like a glove too.

You can get reduced length Speedfeed stock from TacticalShotgunner if the standard size is too long. It's the Speedfeed IV-s instead of the Speedfeed IV. Great stuff.

I'm the opposite when it comes to stocks... I picked up a few shotguns over the past week to check the fit, and the standard stocks all seem about an inch short for me. I think my pull length is somewhere around 15", although I haven't checked since picking up my rifle. Most of the standard stocks (at least on older shotties) seem to have just a plastic buttplate, so a Limb Saver should make it perfect...

Speaking of which: Do any of these tactical stocks (like the Speedfeed) accept a Limb Saver, or is the recoil already reduced substantially by the stock? Only recoil I've really got any experiance with is a .30-06, but I'm assuming a 12 gauge slug might have a bit more force behind it.

Shotguns are a different ballgame than rifles and for "tactical" shooting at least it's better to err on the shorter side of what you're usually used to when it comes to LOP, especially with pumps since a shorter stock brings in your pump hand in that much more, for better leverage when you work the action.

Aside from the Knoxx stocks none of these stocks really dampen recoil, but some may fit better than others depending on the individual and let them handle it better. You can put an aftermarket pad on anything, though in many cases you'll have to go with a "grind to fit" instead of a prefit pad.

Went to a Gun Show in Woodstock, and picked up a bayonet and sheath for the end of my 590 today....40.00!!!!
But that Blackhawk stock is beginning to get annoying with the accessibility for the slide release and the inability to thumb on the safety...( You can tell me you told me so, 7.62mm.....:) )
