590A1 14in retrograde build

That wood looks so much nicer with an oil finish!

I just bought a 590 retrograde yesterday and the stain/paint is so dark and featureless it looked like a synthetic stock when we opened the box on the gun store counter. I’ll definitely be stripping that finish and oiling the wood like yours.

What did you use to strip yours? Circa 1850?

Here is a cheapo old school shorty...........btw it was authentic mossberg retrograde walnut furniture that I cut down ,stripped and oiled

Got the gun but have some issues with the front sights being canted and no it's not the angle of the photo, multiple people seen it in person and agree...I'm gonna give bullseye a call before I post any further and see what they'll do for me as not 1 but 2 separate employees promised me it would be inspected before I got it to avoid this very ordeal

This is fairly common. I've had a 20" 590A1 that was straight, my 14" was crooked. I hate the brick sized front sights anyways so I sent it to Tacord for a Vang Comp front sight and used a Blitzkrieg chevron AR front post. Before that, my rear sight was maxed in windage and nearly maxed in elevation to get zero'd at 7 yards.
