Hey everyone, I just thought I would share something I found this weekend. I just purchased my first rimfire rifle. A remington 597 HB with a 16" barrel. I mounted a bushnell trs-25 red dot on it, for plinking and target shooting. I've found the gun works very well, is very accurate, and with the factory 10 round magazine, quite reliable, shooting even bulk ammo. With it, I purchased a remington 30 round magazine, which I read were mostly crap, but I decided to gamble. I lost. It refused to feed more than one round. Annoyed, but not surprised I went home. I pulled the magazine apart, thoroughly cleaned it, and lubed the follower with dry graphite. Same result. So i disassembled it again, and stretched the spring about 2", and then filed some slag off of the feed lips as the top of the magazine. Voila! I tested it yesterday with 25 rounds in it with no problems. So if you have one of these mags that you can't get to work, give these 3 things a try. Worked for me anyway! Cheers.
