597 30 round mags not feeding…..

I have a Rem 597 HB in .22lr and my first few times out she is shooting 1/2in to 1in groups at 30/50 yards….She works perfect with the factory 10 rounders…. The 30 round mags are a perfect waste of money, does not feed/ I can barley remove the rounds myself afterwords…. Any idea how to fix these mags ?

Thanks

I took them apart and sprayed some Hornady one shot dry lube inside. I loaded them to 30 rounds for about a month, then re-loaded to 25 rounds.

I have no idea if this will actually work - theoretical at this point.

I found they have a heavy duty break in period if new. If there not new make sure they are clean. I have a black Remington one and works fine but it is well worn in now. Try running them at 15 or 20 for a while.

i have two Promag ones. They've been a complete nightmare. Can't even take them apart.

Compare your factory to the 30 rounders. You'll see a LOT of extra plastic on the 30 rounders. Trimming or sanding away this extra plastic helps.

Sanding the sides of the mag so that they actually slide in and out of the mage well smoothly might help, I used a dremel with sanding pad to do mine and also check to see if the spring is in the mag properly. If it is in backwards they will feed somewhat but will jam up quite often and will also not allow you to load the full 30 rounds. And yes, I did have a mag that came with the spring in backwards.

I worked the springs on mine and they feed fine, I bet I have put 3000 rounds through them... granted I gave them a buff job with the buffer head on my dremell. I find when gofer popping I will load the 10 rounders load easy and don't hurt your hands after a few hundred rounds.

Try using a little lube and hand stretch the spring a little...that what I did and it works fine....Don't load all 30 either, seems to work better when you only put 20 or so in....

I spent several night shifts endlessly sanding the guide that the follower runs trough. And still does not work nearly aswel as my 10 rounder
