Ok, so I want an AR style .22LR

I really want a M&P15-22 but it looks like its restricted so that sucks. I also really like the Remington 597 VTR, but it's on back order due to a recall. I guess my question is can I buy a cheap 597 (non-VTR) and buy a stock for it to make it look like a VTR, and would it potentially cost me less than doing the same to a Ruger?

I'd prefer to buy: https://www.cabelas.ca/index.cfm?pageID=71&section=1187&section2=1725&section3=1738&ID=4729 IF I can get an AR style stock, although my research on the net has been less than satisfying.

I COULD buy the more expensive 10\22 and replace the stock for sure, but what can I say I'm a fiscal guy and I love my Remingtons. ;)

Thoughts?

I don't know where you'd get all the parts at this point...probably would cost you a bit more ayt the end since you'd need the barrel as well...just ger the whole gun and save the trouble ;)

Currently the VTR is the only option for an AR style rem 597. you could also get creative and try to make your own.
EDIT: there is a stock available for the 597, the archangel kit. see Satain's post right below mine.

I'll be picking up my 597 VTR on Friday.
Where abouts are you located? I think there might still be a couple still in stock.
