597 VTR - mini review + pics.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
There was one guy who thought it fell from the ugly tree on another thread, but then that's a different thread.
I bought mine in October from a certain gun store on Fraser St. in Vancouver.
Had them put on some rings and a inexpensive 4X power scope on it.
I had several brands of ammo for it CCI Quick shok, Winchester something or other and American Eagle . All are hollow points, save for the Quick Shok.
It really takes some effort to load the 9th and 10th round into the clip, dont know why.
Also with the three different brands of ammo failure to clear was/is a common trait I am sorry to say.
I tried with 6 rounds in the clip 8 rounds etc, same results...
After shooting 150 rounds through it I was annoyed to say the least.
I took it back and now waiting for results/reply as to my concerns with the failure to clear issues. there was also three failure to fires, but that I can deal with, all you need to do is clear the bolt, not drop the clip and remove jammed cases and live round from the breech.
I like the looks, the feel and the weight, it should create havoc amongst the gophers
in Alberta this spring.

I also paid 435.00 plus tax, the Gander mountain versions had 20 inch barrels the ones sent to canada only 16" possibly why theres a difference in pricing. great plinkster though! my first 30 rounds fired at 50 yards with a red dot scope where all within 3 inches, using a gun rest. little front end heavy i found, it does not like cheap ammo! gotta spend 35 bucks for 500 rounds, those 20 buck per 500 rounds jam up, mainly cause the point is loose in the casing. I used the Remington Vipers and not a single jam or miss fire. so glad the standard 597 mag fit! great bennifit., since you started this post has ANYONE had any problem with their 597 VTR??????

Not me adjust the springs and it should improve reliability.
