597 VTR vs SR22 vs MP 10-22 ( Can someone educate me )

I'm looking to buy a tactical style .22 rifle.
I've never owned a .22 before, figured it's about time I stop spending so much money on higher calibers.

So whats the deal between these three ?
I keep reading mixed reviews / opinions.

I'm looking for something that's accurate and reliable out of the box.

Can someone give me a rough comparison between these three rifles ( in terms of accuracy and reliability ) ?

* And yes, a 10/22 is also in consideration but that will be my last choice *
 
597 - ugly, cheap, non-restricted, mimics the SR22 but does not do it as nicely, heard of feeding issues but that should be minimal

M&P 15-22 - good looking, cheap, restricted, mimics an AR15, has an all polymer receiver construction, magazines are now prohibited devices due to the pistol configuration available from Smith

SR22 - not as good looking stock as the M&P, better looking than the 597, with some mods can be as good looking as it gets (minus banana mags), mine has been 100% reliable, no feeding issues, no firing issues, it's accurate and quite heavy. oh yeah, it's also non-restricted


The winner for me is the SR22 with a few mods by far, do not like the polymer on the S&W nor the fact that it's restricted, the 597 is not something I would consider purchasing ever - the barrel looks absolutely retarded sitting higher than the receiver
 
SR-22 is a 10/22 mechanism. My choice would be the sr-22. 1. Its ruger 10/22 well known and reliable mechanism 2. Look nice 3. Lot of after market parts to mod it. Not restricted(like some S&W models).

Thanks for the link, couldn't find anything through the search for some reason, ( just one of those days ).

Now I just have to contemplate this all in my mind and get the courage to throw some cash towards a purchase. :cool:
