5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum

Found some 5mm by Centurion. Sits in the clip well, chambers well, but haven't had a chance to bang any off yet. Unfortunately, my range is 6" underwater at the moment....
Do you live in Pakistan or something?
Oh man, I'm going to hell for that one. I guess I can even it out by donating some cash to the Red Cross tomorrow...

In that train of thought, what purpose is there for the .223 it we already have a .222, why a .308 and 30-06, etc, etc, etc. Shucks, we could do without the majority of chambers.
The 5mm fits right between the 22wmr and 22 hornet.
Allow me to rephrase that: I don't think that 5mm would sell very well, given that the .22 WMR and .17 HMR are well established and fill the same role. I would say that the 5mm is only slightly more powerful than .22 WMR, rather than splitting the difference between it and the Hornet:
5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum: 38 grains @ 2100 fps
.22 WMR: 40 grains @ 1900 fps
.22 Hornet: 40 grains @ 2800 fps; 45 grains @ 2700 fps
Where can a person find two boxes of Mach2 for $13? I'm seeing it at ~$10 a box. Without buying it by the case, either. Seen as high as ~$13, too.
Soooo.... Whatever. Still no love or care for the rimfire 'hot' rounds from me. The price disparity, mostly comes from using real bullets, instead of the .22's basic swaged lead, but I'd still rather have an Ackley Hornet than a rimfire.
Never gonna beat a .22 for cheap shooting. For longer ranges than a .22 works well on, my choice is to go with something other than a rimfire.

My range in Ontario is on a flood plain. And yes, it rains here too.
Got a chance to fire some of the Centurion 5mm and although it chambers well, groups at 50 yds were 2", whereas the original Remingtons were 3/4". Since then I have picked up some Centurion HP (no exposed lead), but haven't tried them yet. From the looks of them, they are more consistently made, without the small bumps, etc. on the exposed lead tips of the others. Have better expectations for these.
