While on the subject, i am curious and question might benefit OP.
What does my 5R rifling do for me?
Someone local told me they we're easier to clean and harder to foul, but i never followed up and researched this.

5R seems to clean easier. We did hear from military source that the pressure curve was smoother.

It has ben stated that 5R provides superior results in larger calibres such as .338.

So I'm going to try it in 308 and 338 lapua if I can get a barrel in 5r

I find the original 5E rifling to be quite effective with FMJ bullets lol.
Has anyone compared the difference between 5 grove Enfield rifling to the new 5R the kids are all hot about?

Funny story but the new fancy schmancy 5r rifling that everyone goes all giggly for looks like the 5L rifling in every Lee Enfield I own other then it's right hand twist vs left. I had no idea about this until my buddy let me look down the bore of his new long range rig.

I think they perfected the bolt action rifle some time around 1900 and really the improvements have been manufacturing, materials and cartridge components. Just my opinion.

I think the rounded aspect, the radius of the transition from land to bottom of the groove stands out. Isn't this one of the features if 5R rifling that is different by design?

Most rifles with a 5R barrels are advertised as such. As in >>>>>this rifle has a 5R barrel, shoots better than other grooves and twists; therefore, you get to pay more.

So if someone pays a premium for a match barrel, why would you use it up shooting bulk, crap projectile?

It would be like shooting bulk Norinco out of a $5K 1911.

Ahh i think i found it....5R has slanted lands vs the rounded corners on an Enfield.
Not sure I'd say that is too different really lol.

and the ones I have are easyer to clean that others. but for 300 pills in 338, I gave a try to 3C rifling and its even better
