A productive morning in north Okanagan BC. Was driving down a logging road and spotted a doe in the thick brush about 50 yards in, I stopped and glassed there was this guy about 50' behind her. Just as I spotted him with the binoculars he ran, so I was now getting out of the truck and he stopped after about 40' for a sec, just as I chambered 1 he took off again. This time he only went about 20' and stopped again giving me a broad side at about 50 yards. I squeezed 1 off and he ran, so I thought I missed as It was very thick and could not get a clean line of sight. So I started glassing the brush and spotted the antlers on the ground about 20' up from where I shot at him, so I watched him for a couple minutes and he was not moving. Ended up getting him back a little bit and high of the sweet spot but it still took out enough vitals and did not waste any meat at all. The 300 WSM takes another. Good thing he was interested in other things, usually once the wt take off they do not stop, this guy behaved like a mulie. He is a bit stinky but not as bad a stinky mulie. This is the biggest 1 for me so far. He is in pretty rough shape after the skin came off, 1 hind quarter is all bruised and yellowey, a few puncture wounds so I guess he's been scapping.

Cheers

If he's all beat up I want the one that's been giving him a s&%t kicking.

Another thing from your post...Sorry, but bruised, yellow, puncture wounds = fevered up animal that I'm not putting on my table.

That is a beauty. And yes, some bucks really get bruised up. Bucks are like guys in a bar fighting over a gal.
