I am looking for a decent 6-24x AO scope for rimfire use. I am currently using a Bushnell 3200 5-15x50AO and it works fine, but doesn't have target turrets and I would prefer more magnification and a mil-dot reticle if possible.

My first choice is a Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50 AO, but it has a 30mm tube and my rifle has the standard 3/8" grooves for scope mounting. To add an EGW rail and 30mm Burris Zee rings will add close to $200 to the cost of the scope.

Are there any 1" tube scopes in the same price range as the Crossfire with comparable performance?

The Tasco target/varmint is 6-24x. Now before you ignore it because it's Tasco I have seen that lots of people on this site like it very much. I have one and for the money *100$ or so* it works great !!!.

Bang On!!!!
I liked my 6-24 soooo much I upgraded to the 10x40 50mm scope. It comes with two sun shades and is clear unless its dawn or dusk. For that, I'd spend the extra money and get a good scope.
However I just can't jusifity putting a scope worth twice the value of the gun?
Can you?
I've even heard of people spending 1200-1600 bucks on a scope for there rimfire. Funny thing is, the gun only cost them 600 bucks or less.
I just don't get it!!!!!!

x2 on the Tasco. I have one on my Stevens 200 (.223) and it performs very consistently.

Liked it so much that I bought another for my incoming .17hmr.

*edit* If you get it from Cabelas, it comes with a pair of free shooting bags.

I have not had the chance to look through one since I began my search. I have a 3-9x rimfire Tasco and it is a POS, with the upper 20% of the magnification unusable. I have seen lots of good comments on the above scope, but my experience to date with Tasco has left me wary. Once things cool off in WSS I will try to get near the counter and have a look through one. Does anybody know how much elevation adjustment it has? The Tasco site neglects to mention that little detail as far as I can see.

I have considered the 10-40x but I think 10x would be too much for my closer shooting. The 1/8 MOA dot and fine crosshair is a great target reticle, though. I will have to crank my 5-15x up to 10x and see what that looks like at 25yds. The 10-40x objective only adjusts down to 25yds as well, which may be an issue for me.

Better glass is always better glass. Why do people always minimize what rimfire is capable of? I am shooting sub-MOA with this rifle at 100yds on calm days and going out to 200yds with it. If I could afford it I would be running a Sightron 8-32x on this rifle.

Yeah, same deal from WSS.

I have the Bushnell Banner D&D 6-24x40 on my 22mag and it works well. I think I paid $130 for it at CT.

No adjustable objective, which is a deal breaker for my uses.

Slightly more expensive than your crossfire/egw/zee combination is the Bushnell E6241.

This is what I am trying to avoid buying. I have a 4200 4-16x40AO on another rimfire and it is an excellent scope. If Burris made 30mm rimfire mount rings all of this could be avoided...

Thanks for all the info and thoughts so far.

I just noticed the Bshnell E6241 has only 27 minutes of total adjustment, somehting consider.

These puppies seem to get good reviews...

Part of the reason to use the Burris Zee rings is the offset inserts to add in elevation for those mortar-like .22LR trajectories out beyond 100yds. Is there a Canadian dealer/supplier of these adapters?

I have been offered a Hawke Varmint 6-24x44SF for $200. The reviews of these look pretty good, but I can't find the same scope for sale in Canada to get an idea if the price is decent or not. Anyone have a source for retail prices? Thoughts/experiences with the Varmint line of Hawke scopes?

D&L Airgun in BC may have some good 30mm mounts to choose from. The BKL line is made in the US and have a good reputation from what I've heard/read.

I've had a Tasco 6-24 on a Rem 700 in 308 and on a Mossy 4X4 in 300 WM for a couple of years. They've been holding out just fine, thank you. The only issue I have had with either scope is that on one of them, the screws that hold the turret down tend to get loose. I'll have to use a bit of loc-tite on them.

It's just kinda hard to find a use for a 24x on a .22. I have had more than a few with a Leupold 24x dots and the only occasion to use them for me were Small Bore Silhouette. 4-16 is great and more than you really ever need for the little pissy .22:D

24x makes it easier to spot hits out at 200yds. Inside 100yds I would agree that 16x is adequate.

I have a couple of Bushnell D&D 6-24x50 AO scopes and they have surprisingly good optics for the money. I like 24x when I'm trying to shoot tight groups on a target.

i have a 6-24 tasco on my 22 for only shooting 20 yards indoors and shoot 24 power all time with no trouble. i would say why not for the price and its only a 22 not like recoil is gonna bother it. I have been looking hard in the vortexline as well
