6-48 tap source

Hey all, looking to drill and tap a receiver for a scope base but I need a 6-48 tap to do it. Just wondering were a guy could pick one up, and also a #31 drill bit as well. I don't want to get a cheap set only to break on me. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Brownells for the tap, any decent tooling store for the drill, or add it to your brownells order.

Neither place normally stocks National Special thread taps.

Try a local hobby shop that specializes in R/C cars, planes, etc. They usually have lots of fine-thread taps. I even found a 2-56 tap for the tiny adjustment screw on my double-set triggers.
