I was thinking about a 6.5-06. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Also, your thoughts if surplus Swede barrels from Tradeex have enough meat to chamber a 6.5-06.
Or should this be better suited to post in the Gunsmithing section.
I have read some info on the 6.5-06 and the claim was it would be almost as fast as the 264. (note: almost as fast). Would be interesting knowing that the 6.5 bullets have some sort of magical spell about them.

yeah, I have a 25-06 that I'd be curious about either rebarrelling, or having a new chamber/bore cut in that mystical caliber myself. I've owned hundreds of rifles over the years, but NOT ONE 6.5 mm in the bunch.

Probably better in the gunsmithing forum, but I will take a stab at it anyway. I don't think that you could rechamber a 6.5x55 barrel to 6.5-06 because 6.5x55 is 0.010" bigger diameter at the bottom of the case than the 30-06 and you would have to set back a couple of inches to rechamber properly.
That said, is there a reason why you don't want to just use 6.5x55? Loaded to modern pressures in a modern action it will run very well, with light recoil and tremendous accuracy.
