Good day ladies and gentleman,

Let's start a Recipe book for everyone to post their winning recipes in 6.5 Family

First and foremost, there are a few things that need to happen here for this post to be successful.

1: We need to stick to a pre-established format.
2: We only post recipes. No congratulations, questions or any other posts than recipes.
3: Questions or congrats to posters about certain recipes to be directed via PM so it doesn't clutter the original post with things other than recipes.

One very important thing, a recipe that works in a firearm may not work in yours. When the recipe is HOT (close or above recommended amount of powder), work your way up to it. . This is serious stuff. It can cause catastrophic failure of your firearm or hurt you or someone. We are mostly all grown ups, let's use our heads if the recipe is hot. WORK UP TO IT.

Here's a format that seems to make sens.

Caliber:
Rifle brand:
Rifle Model:
Custom built:
Barrel length and twist:
Projectile brand, model and weight:
Powder brand and weight:
LOAD CONSIDERED HOT OR CLOSE TO MAX:
Primers:
Coal:
Ogive length:
Brass:
Brass length:
Distance to lands:

Results at 100, 200, 300 (whatever is available)

If available:
Velocity (average):
Outside temperature:
Wind and direction:
Barometric pressure and other relevant data:

Thank you very much everyone and let's make this a successful post for everyone that are getting into reloading a new caliber or are lost in the amount of options available in this caliber. This will also be awesome for anyone who's looking for a start point or simply improve their own recipe or try something else. It will also tremendously simplify the search and the amount of time spent on the search button option and the read through the hundreds of posts and irrelevant reading someone will have to go through in order to get a start point!

We all know that something that does wonders in someone's rifle may not work in someone else's rifle even if it is the exact same thing only a few different serial number away.

Once again, thank you everyone for your participation in this recipe and let's make it a go to for anyone who needs it.

Projectile brand, model and weight:140 Berger VLD Target
Powder brand and weight:H4831sc ,50.2

Shot 3/8" groups @ 100 yards.Usally stayed between 1/2 or 3/4 MOA out to 1200 yards
I used the 140 hybrids (Berger) and 139 Lapua Scenars also and they did about the same,I did have to tweek powder charge to get them to shoot.

AG42 Ljungman - 6.5x 55 swede
144gr Norma
37.0 gr H4350
#34 CCI primer
PPU cases trimmed to book
OAL - book
Brass -Discarded after 3 firings or use in a bolt gun , I found a case head on my lawn otherwise I would have never known I had a close call ( finding brass is a challenge )
A seperated case would be trouble in the chamber of this gun
Also highly recommend the #34 primer - it is a harder primer for mil spec semi guns
This load matches the sight calibration and is easy on the rifle

Anybody have a load for matching the 6.5 mil surp ammo ? For the m96 ?

One hole at 100, has shot a few 4-1/2" groups at 1050 yards and has hit 1506 yards (on a 21" square plate) reliably in good conditions

Anybody have a load for matching the 6.5 mil surp ammo ? For the m96 ?

I recently got into reloading mainly due to the high cost of 6.5x55 and 325wsm ammo...
I'm still working up my loads but this is what works well in my M38 and M96:
6.5x55 swede
140gr Nosler custom competition HPBT
Remington 9 1/2 primer
45 grains H4831sc
Nosler brass trimmed to book
OAL 3.025"
Velocity 2663 fps per datasheet

Accuracy in the M96 and M38 is right on the money and the burn rate of H4831sc is conservative enough to give me no concerns about over pressure in my milsurps. This load should also be good for the Ljungman because it seems pretty close to the original milspec ammo.

I'm scared to use my meager supply of brass on my Ljungman due to the damage suffered during ejection. That Ljungman is some hard on brass! I'll need to buy some cheap brass for the Ljungman because I don't like putting those cases in my bolt guns due to the case damage. Maybe if I could find some gallery brass...

This is a great thread , I like seeing what everyone is using
I am fairly new to the 260 so I have only started and this load became extremely accurate but it is slow (based on Strelok no Chrono)

Very good load to start but definitely need to work it up to get it moving a little faster. Most with this powder and bullet are running around 43 -43.5gr and seem to be getting in the 2700 fps range.

Just wanted to update this, as I've backed the charge off due to signs of head stretch that I've been seeing since sectioning some cases.
Charge is now one full grain less at 46.8 H4831SC, giving velocities averaging 2860 fps and is very well behaved in both hot & cold weather. Accuracy seems to be about the same as it was before, just a bit slower.

I also loaded up some Hornady 140 BTHP with the same charge a few weekends ago to see how they would do:

No idea, as this is simply the load that I used in my Surgeon .260 (that I've torn apart for another build), with the shoulders pushed back just enough to chamber in the .260 AI.

Projectile brand, model and weight: 129gr Hornady SST
Powder brand and weight: Varget 38.1gr
LOAD CONSIDERED HOT OR CLOSE TO MAX: Book max is 39 IIRC
Primers: Federal Match LR
Coal: Book for these projectiles (can't remember the actual number)
Ogive length: ?
Brass: Hornady
Brass length: Trim to book
Distance to lands: Not measured

Getting right around 1 moa most of the time if I don't screw it up, group pictured below is typical results from this load and has been repeated half a dozen times, I will do more testing with this load though. I think I can tighten that up a bit if I put a little more effort into reloading and also my shooting.
I am loading to book COL to ensure reliable feeding in the semi rather than trying for maximum accuracy and sacrificing reliability. I'm also staying away from the heavier projectiles as I feel they are harder on the action of a semi even though I feel they will probably give better long range performance.
