6.5-284 Barnes TTSX 120gr LOAD DATA

I did a search in here and noticed there hasn't been any information posted about loading the barnes 120gr bullets. I was wondering if anyone has had any issues getting these 120gr bullets to perform. Sounds like the GO TO bullet for this caliber is 140gr. I have shot the 139gr Lapua Scenars very succesfully at target, but I am not sure I would hunt larger game with this particular bullet.

I loaded some last night and I will be going to the range in the next few days to try the loads out. I used H4831SC and started at 48gr and went in 0.5gr increments up to 52gr. I will be looking for pressure signs and the best groupings. I plan on using this caliber for my deer hunting ASAP.

Any help or experience with the Barnes TTSX 120gr would be helpful.

I am using the exact bullet this fall and just finished up my range work. I inquired with Barnes for some help and Ty Herring sent me a link to the older manual. They are suggesting to use this info for load development. If you get me your email I will forward it onto you.

I am using RL 25 in mine with I think 55gr charge. I will have to double check that but I do know I am getting 2850 fps average out of a 24" barrel. Accuracy is around 3/4" at 100 yards. Can't wait to try it out. Mulies in two weeks!!!

I am up to 59 grains of reloader 25 in mine with the same bullet. I have gone as high as 59.8 but was just starting to get a little bit of cratering on my primers. This is in a Cooper Excaliber.

I went and shot some test rounds yesterday and my results weren't too bad.

I am using H4831SC and I started at 48gr and worked up in .5gr increments until i reached 52.5gr. The best group came at the higher levels. I am going to load 20 at 52gr and try them out in my next step.

There was no sign of excessive pressure or flattened out primers so I am going to have to Chrono this load to see where it is then decide whether or not I want to go a little hotter.

I just ordered a Cooper Excalibur with a Jackson Hunter Stock in 6.5-284 and had my Sako 75 270 up for sale. I didn't think it was going to sell that quickly but I was wrong. The Sako was sold so I needed a hunting rifle for this year so I called Clay and bought a Cooper Excalibur in 270. I will be using the 270 for this years hunting season and either selling it next year or keeping both Coopers.
