hey guys,i put together a Thompson pro hunter with a custom barrel 26" long in 6.5-284 norma, 1 in 8 twist it has the trigger work done and it breaks like glass at 2.5 pounds 0 creep.I will be using it for moose and deer. I have been reloading for over 30 years and have taken a lot of game, mostly with single shot rifles.I have taken moose out to 427 yards and deer just over 300,so I do know a little bit about hunting and shooting.
MY question is this, when I check all my reloading manuals, total of 10.theres not a lot of info.So here goes,i have been on the net for over a week and most of the target shooters or long range hunters are using loads way over anything that are in my books.
Anyone have any good loads that they have tried out and worked for hunting.
I have h4831 sc,re 22,re 19,win 760.h 1000,imr 4064.retumbo
I only use fed 210 match or 215 match,primers.
have 120gr. barnes ttsx, nosler 130 accubonds,129 sst,142 smk,for target.my dies are Redding fl length sizer and seater and also have a Forester benchrest seater.
So if any sugestions please let them fly.
ALL LOADS ARE ALWAYS WORKED UP TO MAX OR LESS as per each rifle.
Thanks guys.oh ya lapua brass being used.

4831 and RL22 are good choices.

My target rifles use a deeper throat than usual, to give the cases more capacity. So my data won't help you much.

I would use the 200 with 4831 and 215 with the RL22. Work up and enjoy.

My rifle likes a lot of powders where I achieved a multitude of 1/2 groups, however the best powder it likes is VV 160.
Lapua brass
Fed. 210M primer
139 gr. Scenar
48.5 of VV 160 (Max load with no signs of pressure)
COL: Bullet kissing lands
Rifle: Cooper Model 52, 26" barrel

I don't hunt so my load may not help but I shoot 140gr HPBT Hornady Match with 52g H4831sc in Lapua brass out of my Savage 111 long range hunter for 2760fps chrono'd at -15 C
