6.5-300 wby. mag.

so this wildcat is a .300 Weatherby necked down to 6.5? sounds like it would be a flat but hard on barrels shooter;)....

seems there have been a few around but not much info out there about this
wildcat. i'd be interested in load data if anyone has some. also group or velocity info. thanks

I always kinda wondered about this gap in the weatherby line, the 264 weatherby, for when the 257 just isnt enough, but the 270 weatherby is just plain overkill. must be so close to the 6.5-300win

The 6.5/300 Wby Mag is virtually identical to the 6.5 STW and the 6.5/300 WMH - do a search on those and loads will pop up.

I have a 6.5/300 Win Mag which is slightly smaller, and for bullets of 129gr and heavier, US869 is THE powder. Start at 264 Win Mag loads and work up until the MV is 150 fps faster than those published for the 264 Win Mag.

thanks for the help guys, and Dan if you get a chance to send some load data when you get home it would be much appreciated. thanks again. g

I found some data for the 6.5-.300 Wby, the hottest load is a 139 gr bullet ahead of 87 grs of H-870 for 3590 fps from a 31" barrel. Although I don't recall the load, it seems to me that a woman shooting a 6.5-300 Wby held the 1000 yard record with a group of 7". This was listed in an earlier Sierra manual, so perhaps someone who has the older manual can post the load.
