Thinking about a new build. 6.5-300wsm or 6.5wsm.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Yes I know close to the PRC. But just like the creed hard to swallow.

I already have a 6.5-06 .. I was just checking it out.. reports I’ve read ..3500 fps.. 19” of drop at 500 yard.. overbore barrel burner with pricey ammo. If I was going to get another 6.5 cal. Hell ya I’d get the 6.5-300 just because!

You need to get over it. Its a rifle cartridge not a rainbow shirt.LOL.I get the frustration with all of that relatively cheap factory ammo that shoots sub moa and you don't even have to fire form it. Who needs that .

Well if the 6.5 PRC is not doing it for you go 6.5 RPM it’s a hot rod 6.5 cartridge, I had GEF build me one on a Kimber Montana 84L and it’s crazy accurate, shooting the 156 Berger’s at 3070 FPS into a tiny little hole.

The 6.5 PRC is an amazing cartridge, very accurate with factory ammo, you’ll see by this next summer there will be many brands of factory ammo besides Hornady, Federal, Nosler, Barnes, not to mention all kinds of brass options, Hornady, ADG, Bertram, Gunwerks and now Lapua, the 6.5-300 WSM won’t get that kind of support,

but in the end if you handload it really doesn’t matter build what you want that way it won’t leave you wishing you did.

I have a 6.5 saum, pretty happy with, it's a good read if you google, built it before the prc came out, saum has a little more fps,
Not supposed to burn barrels, time will tell

I shot the 6.5WSMn when the Shortmags first came out, for more than a few years on three different falling block actions out past 1K and killed quite a few deer with it. Lots of fun, but unless you are looking for a "unique wildcat", the 6.5PRC is a better deal because of the availability of factory brass and dies.
