6.5" 870

Talked to Joe and he thinks it's a great idea to become contributers. He just came back from business so it will be set up this week when I come in.
 
Could you please confirm the number of rounds? I've heard that it's only two. Just kind of curious as to why you wouldn't go with a special field length mag tube (holds 3 2.75") and a 9" barrel.
 
Thr 10" holds three. The 8.5" you are limited to two. At 6.5 I believe you can still get two rnds, there's still quite a bit of spring space. If you cut down a good stiff quality spring like a Wolff you should be able to shorten it quite a bit.

You could but you'd have to have it re-registered as a restricted gun. Waste of time if you ask me.

no you don't. the shotgun remains non restricted because the AR becomes the stock. the shotgun can only be shot at the range because it needs the AR, which is restricted.

Sorry for reviving this old thread... I just noticed on my BRAND NEW 18" 870 Express that the barrel does not have a ball detent any more.
It arrived today in the mail, so that must be how Remington is making them now (or they forgot to put one on, but I doubt that).

Anyway, I've already sold the barrel to someone here (just waiting for a MO) and I am getting my 12.5" Parkerized DLASK barrel with choke-threads on Friday. WOOT!! :dancingbanana:

None of the Expresses have them, that is because they are not needed for the Express style mag cap....they didn't factor in that we would be offended by the crimped mag tube and drill it out ;) I have one Express barrel with no detent so I just slip in a GG&G or Wilson sling attachment which has the detent when I need it and take it out when I am using my others. DAC barrel sounds nice, let us know how the park and choke threading looks.
